Structural Repairs
Repairs to the main structure of a boat are generally required following an impact to a vessel which would result in an insurance claim. This isn’t always the case as in some instances a vessel may have been built with a structural defect that doesn’t become evident until after it has been used for a seasons or two.
In many cases structural repairs can be costly and require a very high skill level. Nowadays many boats will require major dismantling of the interior to access the damaged area and reassembling upon completion to do this so as the end result is undetectable which means a highly skilled shipwright is required.
The structural repair will also need a highly qualified GRP repairer who understands how the structure works and what is involved to repair it.
At Osmotech, we often come across boats that have been poorly repaired, this can only be attributed to the repairer carrying out a structural repair that they didn’t have sufficient skills to have attempted.
