Stern Thruster

Fitting a stern thruster to this Alden 52 was quite a challenge, as one of the boat’s fuel tanks was abutted the inside of the transom where the thruster motor would usually go. Osmotech’s engineers came up with an ingenious solution by custom-building an angled section of GRP to mount the stern thruster tube, which allowed the motor to sit at an angle, above the tank.

The Side power SP125 stern thruster with its external tube,
was mounted on its new sloping transom below the waterline giving the owner
precise control and with the bow thruster, 360 manoeuvring capability. The Alden
can be driven on to a berth sideways and will rotate almost within its own
length.
